Sometimes, it’s good to get back to basics. Since I just unwrapped my new Dell M6700 laptop, we thought it was a good idea to start from the beginning. In this video, we will take you through the steps of updating a Mastercam Hasp, downloading the software from Mastercam’s download site, and installing the program.

There’s a common misconception that 3D toolpaths should only be involved in cutting curved surface geometry. Not all parts are one sided. Many parts require machining to occur on the backside of a part. How often do you work with parts with only one side that requires machining? Not very often, we’d imagine. That’s why the designers of Mastercam made it possible to rotate the Work Coordinate System (WCS) about the part, thereby making the chosen working construction plane the top plane. When dealing with programs as complex as Mastcam and SolidWorks, we sometime choose to just live with the default settings and configurations that come out of the box. With so much functionality, it’s easy to get frightened by the immense amount of boxes to check, switches to switch, and configurations to set. This video does a great job of breaking down the necessary configurations that will help your Mastercam experience run much smoother.
