Former life
Chris has tried everything at least once! He started out in Germany working for a “mom & pop” custom printed circuit board manufacturer. While in Germany, Chris fell in love with high-end audio components. One of his side jobs was as an apprentice for a custom loud-speaker manufacturer and that’s where the love affair with “analysis” started. When Chris came back to the U.S. he pursued a degree in Mechanical Engineering, and started using 3D CAD to design and analyze speaker enclosures. After college Chris worked for the Air Force as a contractor. During his six years with the Air Force, Chris worked on almost every airplane in the fleet! Eventually Chris got tired of spending Tax Payer’s money, so he jumped ship and worked for MLC CAD Systems (the South’s largest SolidWorks Reseller) for the next 6 years. At MLC CAD Systems, Chris was the Technical Manager, which involved the oversight of 12 Applications Engineers, technical training & support, and customer service. Life as a Technical Manager prepared Chris for his life at SolidBox! All the years of studying the SolidWorks products, getting certifications, working with the Dassault corporate teams, and understanding what customers REALLY want came together to help create SolidBox!
SolidWorks Bug-bite
Dr. Jack Simonis was my favorite professor at the University of Texas at San Antonio. By 1995 I had already used several CAD programs, e.g. Pro/E, AutoCAD, and IronCAD. Jack tapped me on the shoulder one day after class and handed me a CD of SolidWorks 98, after hearing me complain about how crappy Pro/E was at assembly motion, and said, “this is the future.”

Mike was a CNC Machinist and Programmer for a handful of machine shops in the Austin, TX area. During my career if I was being held back from excelling I would move on to learn more. I seemed to have perfect timing when I made a move to the next shop. During my 15 years of working for different shops I was always a lead or one of the top guys in the shop. I learned quickly I had to back up what I said I could do.

Former life
Tanner started his life as a professional opera singer. With degrees in Opera Performance, engineering and design had always been a pipe dream, but now, he’s learning as he goes and picking it up quickly. Tanner has always been on the creative side of things, i.e. writing, composing, and film acting, so he plans on using these skills as he develops SolidWorks and Adobe-specific skills to make sure SolidBox is still the best, most informative place to buy your next computer.
